On Wednesday 16th September, Graces Mews celebrates the launch of YOUTH, Chardchakaj Waikawee’s first major publication made to accompany the exhbition. The photobook brings together his photographs from 2008–2020 alongside a series of wet plate portraits of Buddhist monks. Waikawee will be joined in conversation by Tyrone Lebon, director of Reely and Truly Episode 6: Chardchakaj Waikawee and Rachel Harrison, Professor of Thai Cultural Studies at SOAS, who contributed a text piece to to the publication. The discussion will explore Waikawee’s practice, the social and cultural history of photography in Thailand, and the stories behind the images in YOUTH. Please use the link to RSVP.
